The Alaska Kidney Patients are kicking off our Year End Fundraising with
Please don't quote me,
but I like to say DIALYSIS SUCKS THE PROTEIN RIGHT OUT OF A PERSON. If that protein is not replaced (protein rich kidney friendly foods and/or protein supplements), think of your most lethargic day and you might come close to how a dialysis patients feels who has low albumin. There is no fuel in the tank for energy, to heal, to participate in life....
This Giving Tuesday, YOU can help give the gift of Kidney Friendly Food to an Alaskan on dialysis. Renal Dietitians have either selected the food or are stocking the food 'cupboards' in for the dialysis patients in their clinics.
Eating a ‘dialysis diet’ is not only restrictive, it can be challenging for dialysis patients with limited resources. Dialysis patients need to consume more high protein foods than normal should not eat salt, bananas, bacon, ham, sausage, hot dogs, lunch meats, canned meats, spam, bologna, potatoes.... that is just the tip of the 'foodberg'.
and dedicated Renal Dietitians have either selected the food the AKPA stocks their clinic with or are personally shopping for the food 'cupboards' in for the dialysis patients in their clinics.
